Lifespan:
10-15 years in captivity.
Sexing:
Sexing is possible at around 10-12 months of age. Males typically have more prominent hemipenal bulges and visible femoral pores, while females do not.
Enclosure:
Juveniles: 12"x12"x18" vertical enclosure.
Adults: 18"x18"x24" vertical enclosure.
Substrate:
A loose substrate that holds moisture well, such as coconut fiber mixed with sphagnum moss, is ideal. This setup will help maintain proper humidity levels and mimic the natural forest floor.
Lighting & Temperature:
Basking Area: 75-78°F.
Ambient Temperature: 72-75°F.
Cool Side: 68-72°F..
UVB Lighting: A 5.0 UVB bulb is recommended.
*Important: High temperatures (above 85°F) can cause significant stress and overheating.
Humidity:
Humidity should be maintained between 70-90%, misting the enclosure daily to keep levels stable. Using a hygrometer will help monitor humidity accurately. Provide a moist hide filled with sphagnum moss to assist with shedding.
Food:
Mossy Leaf-Tailed Geckos are insectivorous. Offer them a diet of appropriately sized live insects, such as crickets, roaches, and small mealworms. Feed juveniles daily and adults 2-3 times per week.
Water:
These geckos typically drink from droplets on leaves and enclosure walls after misting. Ensure regular misting and offer a shallow dish with clean water, though they may not use it frequently.
Supplementation:
Calcium with D3: Dust food 2-3 times weekly.
Calcium without D3: Use on alternating days if adequate UVB lighting is provided.
Multivitamins: Offer once weekly to support overall health
