Pacman Frog

Named for their round shape and huge mouths, Pacman Frogs are sit-and-wait ambush predators that spend most of their lives buried with only their eyes and mouth visible. Pacman frogs are native to wet, humid jungles in South America, where these frogs are bold feeders and come in a variety of stunning colors and patterns thanks to selective breeding.
Lifespan:
Up to 10-15 years in captivity with proper care
Sexing:
Males are smaller around 3-4 inches, develop dark nuptial pads on thumbs, and may call at night
Females are larger and rounder at around 4-7 inches.
Enclosure:
Minimum Size: 10-gallon tank for adults Wide and shallow is better than tall
Lid: Secure but ventilated lid (though they rarely climb)
Provide hiding places like rocks, logs, or plants. Keep the substrate deep enough to allow for burrowing.
Substrate:
Moist coconut coir, sphagnum moss, or soil mixes (no perlite or fertilizers)
Depth of at least 3 inches for burrowing
Keep moist, not wet—avoid standing water in the substrate.
Lighting & Temperature:
Basking: Low 90s°F (Optional)
Ambient Temp: 75–84°F during the day
Night Temp: can drop to 70-75°F
UVB Lighting: Not strictly required, but low-level UVB (2.0–5.0) is beneficial
Humidity:
60–80% humidity during the day, slightly higher at night. Mist daily; ensure good ventilation to prevent respiratory issues
Food:
Insectivores: Feed gut-loaded crickets, roaches, worms, pinky mice or fish. Dust insects with calcium supplement 2–3x/week and multivitamins 1x/week.
Feed 2–3 times a week for adults, more frequently for juveniles
Water:
Provide a shallow, dechlorinated water dish
Frogs often soak in water to stay hydrated—keep it clean and fresh
Mist enclosure to maintain humidity and allow frogs to drink droplets
